Abortion Outrage

Abortion Outrage

Yes, I’m outraged by the barbaric cruelty with which some human beings want to treat innocent little babies. I usually don’t express my outrage and disgust. I usually try to avoid conflict and confrontation by just keeping quiet while possibly seething inside.

My lack of expression does not mean I have no opinions. In fact, I am a very opinionated person and this week I’m going to express my opinion about what has upset people all around the country about the abortion issue.

Let me begin by expressing my sincere sympathy to all the women and men that have been affected by abortion, either personally or within your circle of influence.

Abortion

Abortion touches lives. No matter what, abortion touches a person’s soul. Abortion may harden some hearts. Or it might bring great mental anguish to others. It may even cause death or suicide.

On Tuesday of this week, first-term Virginia lawmaker Delegate Kathy Tran proposed a bill which would allow abortions up until the moment of birth. A video of her comments spanned the Internet provoking both accolades for women’s rights and a frenzy for supporting human rights. Tran admitted that her proposed bill would allow for abortions up until the birth of the baby. The House of Delegates then erupted with Speaker Kirk Cox, R-Colonial Heights, giving a rare speech vowing to defend “precious human life” if the Republicans were in power. ¹

This news item dominated late-night talk shows on Fox News. Many topics hit the airways such as . . .

– The right to life should not be up to the physician;

– Should Catholic politicians who support abortion be excommunicated from the church?

– Do babies have an inalienable right to life?

– These are the socialist policies of the left!

– Dogs’ rights are more important than human rights; and

– Dan Bongino, the host of The Dan Bongino Show, called this new push for 40th-week abortions “savage brutality.”

My Opinion

I’m not unaware of what is occurring, just appalled.

When I was in college in the 70s, I worked as an intern at Planned Parenthood for my social work class. While I wasn’t involved in any abortions, the thinking then was that pregnancy in the early stages was not equal to a real baby: thus an abortion was not killing a baby. An abortion was thought of as just removing a blob of tissue. This was before the days of ultrasounds where one could see a baby grow from an embryo to a fetus to a “human being.” Many unaware patients who had abortions then became devastated when new technological advances became available and they realized what they had done.

But today is different. We have technologies and are more educated on pregnancy and human development.

Nowadays, people think killing babies is okay even up until the time of birth or thereafter. This thinking is widespread, and not just in Virginia: many states are trying to pass bills for full-term abortion availability because they are fearful that Roe vs. Wade, the 1973 decision which legalized abortion nationwide, might be overturned by the new conservative majority on the Supreme Court.

Recently, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed legislation allowing women to abort their babies at any time up until birth.

God is Not Pleased!

God made human life. He values human life. He loves human life. He also forgives those who may have devalued life at some point in their lives.

While the Bible does not specifically use the term abortion, the Bible is filled with verses about how God feels about the human form and human attributes before birth, during birth, and during our lifetime.

Four Biblical Verses Regarding How God Views His Children

  • Children are known by God even before they are formed in the womb. He even knows our future.

Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you,
And before you were born, I consecrated you;
I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.

Jeremiah 1:5

  • Children are made by God.

Know that the Lord Himself is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

Psalm 100:3

  • Children are born in the image of God.

Whoever sheds man’s blood,
By man his blood shall be shed,
For in the image of God
He made man.

Genesis 9:6

  • Children are the work of God’s hand.

But now, O Lord, You are our Father,
We are the clay, and You our potter;
And all of us are the work of Your hand.

Isaiah 64:8

Conclusion

Many of us have become very silent on moral issues including abortion. Let’s not keep our heads in the sand. Let’s shed our passive nature, our insecurities, our shyness, and our fear. We must be heard. With love, let our heart guide us to become outspoken on behalf of all the babies who can’t speak for themselves.

God Bless.

Prayer

O Jesus, save the hearts of the people who are not valuing life. I pray the Holy Spirit touches their hearts unto salvation. Without You, it is impossible for them to see abortion or any moral issue without knowing You. I lift up Your will on what is going on around our nation and the world. Give us peace. Give us power. Give us the prayers to pray for the unborn children and politicians who make our nation’s laws. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
